Most Korean people (mostly men in general) drink SOJU in Korea. SOJU is the most popular liquor in Korea. What's so popular about?: It is "cheap" and "can get drunk enough in ratio of money to be normally spent getting drunk like that much". People can get drunk even by first couple shots of SOJU. Basically, you can get drunk as much as you want (or even more than that) with a SOJU without worrying about how much money left in your pocket. I used to drink SOJU alot when I was a college student back in Korea. Korean people drink alot. I think it is another way for Korean people to develop a social relationship or connection with others by drinking and getting drunk "together" so that they can put themselves in the same circle of social relationship. It may sound ridiculous but it definitely works in Korea. So if you are new to Korea and want to make a "Two-Way" relationship with Korean people, then go out with them and get drunk as much as they do.
Last Friday night, I had a SOJU at home, which I haven't done for a while. I was in a feeling that there's something definitely missing in my life for a while and finally noticed that I was missing drinking a SOJU. So I've purchased a bottle of SOJU at the 1 hr away Korean liquor store.
